Having achieved a career high with a batting average of 314 (77 hits in 245 at-bats) and two homers, 28 RBIs, 40 runs and 20 steals in 101 games in 2023, he played in only 32 games due to ligament injury in his right knee last year. He accepted his poor report card with a batting average of 243 (18 hits in 74 at-bats) and six RBIs, 15 runs and three steals.

"I didn't play well in the early last year, and I was out for a long time due to injury," Kim said. "I felt a lot outside of baseball. There is a reason why I have to do well this season."

Kim Sung-yoon, who took basic rehabilitation courses at the Samsung Training Center, rode his bicycle to Jamsil Stadium. The spectacular lights and loud cheers from fans made me feel fresh. "I was reminded of how I felt when I went to the baseball stadium when I was young. It was a new feeling watching baseball from the perspective of ordinary people, not players."

"The trainer teachers cared a lot, so the rehabilitation process was smooth and I was able to return to a healthy state," he said, expressing his gratitude.

He also shook off the burden of relapse of injury. "When I was playing in Futures after returning from injury, my coaches advised me not to hesitate but to be bold because if I am afraid of getting hurt, I have a higher chance of getting hurt again," Kim said.

When asked how he felt about his first fall performance since his debut, he said, "Actually, I didn't do anything. Thanks to my great teammates, I was able to experience the fall performance. I was worried that I might lose weight ahead of the post season, but it was fun. I wanted to experience fall baseball again this year."

He, who is preparing for this season by stamping his attendance at Daegu Samsung Lions Park with catcher Lee Byung-hun (26), said, "The opening is faster than last year, so I'm trying to improve my best condition accordingly. I'm doing my best to make up for the shortcomings because I'm lacking too much in attack and defense."

Kim Sung-yoon also added, "We are training with an emphasis on improving batting speed and bat speed as well as creating as many in-play balls as possible."

With left fielder Koo Ja-wook and center fielder Kim Ji-chan selected as the main players, competition is fierce for one spot in the outfield. Kim Sung-yoon said, "It is important to maximize my strengths. As a professional player, I have to show them with results. I will prepare for this season with great determination."

Kim Sung-yoon, who couldn't forget the thrill of the stage last fall, said, "I had so much fun that I thought I had never played baseball so happily in my life. Adrenaline rose amid the cheers of the fans," and stressed, "My biggest goal is to play in as many games as possible."
